Mobile Hydraulic Repair — Hoses, Cylinders, Pumps & PTO

Blown hoses, weeping cylinders, dead PTOs — hydraulic repairs where the machine or truck is working.

Hydraulics fail at work — a dump box that won't lift mid-job, a hose that lets go on the Bamberton grade, a crane that drifts, a liftgate stuck half-way at a delivery door. Ronin Mechanical repairs hydraulic systems on trucks and equipment across the South Island, on site, so the job you're on doesn't die with the hose.

We handle wet kits and PTO drives on dump and log trucks, cylinder and valve problems, pumps, liftgates, and the hydraulic circuits on the machines that work alongside trucks. Failed hoses get replaced with properly rated line, contamination gets flagged before it kills the next component, and fluid loss gets found — not topped up and forgotten.

What we handle on-site

  • Hydraulic hose failures — replaced and routed properly on site
  • PTO and wet-kit diagnosis and repair on dump and log trucks
  • Cylinder repairs — drift, leaks, seal failures
  • Pump and valve diagnosis and replacement
  • Liftgate hydraulic and electrical faults
  • Dump box, hoist and tarp system problems
  • Fluid and filtration service, leak tracing, contamination checks

Trucks and the machines beside them

South Island work is mixed work: the same yard runs highway tractors, dump trucks, an excavator and a skid steer. We service the hydraulic side of all of it, which means one text covers the whole yard instead of three different service providers. For machine-side mechanical work beyond hydraulics, see heavy equipment repair.

Hydraulic emergencies are also where our no-markup parts policy pays visibly: hose, fittings, cylinders and pumps priced at exactly what the supplier charged, with the receipt in your invoice — at $130/hour for the labour and not a dollar of parts margin.

Hydraulic Repair — FAQs

A hydraulic hose just blew mid-job. How fast can you come?

Text 250-974-7899 with your location, what machine or truck it's on, and a photo of the failed hose end if you can get one safely — that photo often means we arrive with the right replacement made up. Roadside and jobsite hose calls are among our fastest turnarounds because the repair itself is quick once we're there.

My dump box is slow or won’t lift loaded. What is that?

Slow-under-load usually points at a worn pump, a relief valve setting, restricted suction, or air in the system — occasionally just badly low fluid, which itself means a leak. It's a classic on-site diagnosis: pressure-test, isolate, and repair at the truck rather than losing the truck to a shop queue.

Do you make up replacement hoses?

We stock common hose and fittings for emergency repairs and source or have made anything beyond that same-day where suppliers allow. Either way the hose that goes on is rated for the circuit it serves, routed and protected properly, and billed at supplier cost.

Can you fix a leaking cylinder on site?

Frequently, yes — seal kits and gland work are doable at a yard or jobsite with the machine safely supported. Heavily scored rods or damaged barrels need machine-shop time; if that's what we find, you'll get photos, honest options and help getting the component where it needs to go.
